USQ Run, Ride, Walk
The inaugural Ride, Run, Walk conducted by the USQ Student Guild on Sunday 4 November was a great success with over 100 participants joining in the fun of the event which was staged to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the University of Southern Queensland engaging with the local community and to raise funds for this year’s Toowoomba Hospital Children’s Appeal.
The participants
A large contingent of Toowoomba Road Runners combined with USQ staff and friends, the Toowoomba Triathlon Club, the local community and members of Disability Services Queensland to ensure the day was a great success. Also, members of QATB and the local SES were on hand to provide valuable support.
The goal
The event's goal to celebrate the USQ’s 40th Birthday in a meaningful way by engaging community members in a healthy pursuit and at the same time raising funds for vital medical equipment for the children in hospital was achieved with over $2000 raised.
The activities
Participants enjoyed either a three km walk or a five km run and the cyclists were able to join in the complimentary breakfast after their morning ride. Over 30 prizes were given away including Watermark Gold Coast accommodation packages, USQ Works memberships and many gift vouchers.
