It was in February 1993 that I first stepped into Australia. After going through all the hassle of immigration and travelling for another two years, I finally set foot on the USQ Toowoomba campus. It was a beautiful city and I always remember the warm welcome I received from the university staff. I told myself this has got to be the university I want to be (sic). I loved the environment and atmosphere of the university at that very point of time and told myself there will be no turning back.
I went through the three years of university student life in the Faculty of Business and I enjoyed every moment of it. They are the best memories in my life in the pursuit of academic excellence and a 'beautiful city' to stay in.

I was working in the Finance Department in the early 1990's and remember the first day I met my future husband. We both parked in the same car park and were making our way from across the Japanese Gardens when we were set upon by a crazed goose that continued to attack us each time we parked there. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

1997 - what a year. As a student living on campus at Steele Rudd, life was fun and exciting. It was my first year away from home and very scary. My best memories of uni were my years at Steele Rudd and winning the Ruddian Award at the completion of my degree in 2002.

I remember walking through the Toowoomba streets in a graduation ceremony and walking across the stage and getting my degree. It took me some time to complete but I managed to graduate with my degree.

On my first visit to the (then) college we were assembled in the Refec (green carpet and orange air conditioners!). We were told only one in three would graduate.
After struggling on alone, in my third semester I decided to attend the residential school only to find that everyone else had experienced the same highs and lows. The residential schools were great and the lecturers liked us as we were so keen.
I graduated and went on to Masters and PhD. External studies were terrific and in five years there were no wrong materials or lost assignments. USQ changed my life! Fond memories, thanks to all including Dom Penseiro, Graham Jocumsen, Sue Porter, and many others!
I am sure that many others have realised their potential in life thanks to the noble efforts of USQ staff.
