Where's Phil? Photo competition

For those of you not in the know, Phil the Phoenix is the official mascot of USQ. As part of the University’s 40th Anniversary celebrations in 2007 we are running a Where’s Phil? Photo Competition. This global competition enables you to be a part of our celebrations, whether you are a student in Singapore, an Alumnus in Argentina or a tutor in Toowoomba.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to take a photo of you and Phil the Phoenix and upload this image onto a community photo sharing website called Flickr. The primary goal of this competition is to have fun, experience the diversity of the USQ community and maybe win the grand prize. Anyone can enter so tell your friends!

To see all the fantastic entries to date visit the Where's Phil Flickr group at now.

Winners to date

See where Phil has been all year. The photographs of the monthly winners are amazing!

Obviously we are very keen to see Phil the Phoenix spread his (very soft) wings and visit some exotic, fun and interesting locations that highlight the diversity of the USQ community in 2007. We don’t want to give you too many ideas but Phil the Phoenix has always wanted to gaze at the pyramids of Giza, sail past the Statue of Liberty and sample some sushi in Saitama. Still looking for some direction? Then look at some sample photographs.

How can I enter?

  1. Get your hands on a genuine USQ Phil the Phoenix mascot as soon as possible. You can buy them from the USQ bookshop or online for AUD18.70 (plus freight and handling). Phil the Phoenix can be shipped anywhere in the world.
  2. Read the competition rules for the critical things you need to know!
  3. Take the 5 minute Flickr tour then register for a free Flickr account.
  4. Upload as many photo entries to Flickr as you like, comment on the other photos, maybe start a discussion and have some fun.
  5. Tell your friends.

The competition is open to anyone. We would love to see entries from all students, staff, alumni and friends of USQ from all countries. There is no limit to the number of photographs that a person may enter.
