Parking
in General
Motor Vehicles, Motorcycles and Bicycles are required to park in areas specifically designated for their parking. Disabled driver’s vehicles parked in bays reserved for persons with disabilities must display a Department of Transport Disabled Person Permit. Under exceptional circumstances, visitors, staff and students may be issued with special Temporary Parking Permits. Application for such Permits may be made at Student Services or at the Parking/Security Office. Metered Bays: a parking ticket, which can be purchased at the automatic ticket dispensing machine located within the respective carpark area, must be displayed on any vehicle parked in any metered car parking area. Restricted Bays: a parking permit must be displayed on any vehicle parked within any restricted or reserved car parking area. Restricted Bays are reserved on a 24 hours a day 7 days a week basis. Parking arrangements apply all year and are NOT relaxed during vacations or semester recesses. Warning Notices advising of parking infringements need not necessarily be issued. Notices of Alleged Breach of the University Act may be issued immediately a parking breach occurs. All vehicles parked on the site of the University do so at the owner’s risk. Prohibited Areas Any area not marked as a vehicle parking area. For example, areas off designated roadways, lawns, footpaths and paved areas. Speed Limit All roads: 40kph Traffic Regulations Parking at the University is regulated in accordance with the provisions of the University of Southern Queensland Act which provides for various penalties for driving breaches. Copies of the Schedule of the Act are available from the Security Office, J Block. Security Service The University operates a 24 hours a day 7 days a week security service.
