Honours Board

University Medalists

University Medals are awarded to the most outstanding students selected from those who have completed the requirements for a Bachelor Honours Degree, Degree of Bachelor with Honours or Degree of Bachelor of at least four years duration.

The following definitions are provided as a guide for the awarding of Medals by the University's predecessor institutions:

1977 - The Institute Medal is awarded by the College Council to those students who have shown outstanding merit in their work in degree or diploma courses. The Medal, as it is known today, was first conferred at the 1974 Graduation Ceremony. Since then only twelve such medals have been awarded.

1978 - The Institute Medal is the Institute's most prestigious prize and is awarded to a small number of graduates whose academic performance has been of the highest order in the graded units of the course studies and who possess a high level of the qualities of independent and critical thought.

1985 - The Institute Medal is the Institute's most prestigious prize and is awarded to a small number of graduates whose academic performance has been consistently of the highest order and who have displayed high levels of independent and critical thought and effective communication.
