Living expenses

USQ's Residential Colleges offer you an affordable and flexible option for accommodation whist you are studying with the University. Unlike many private accommodation options where you are locked into a 52 week contract, at Residential Colleges you only have to stay a minimum of 30 weeks. You don't have to worry about rent during holiday periods and if your course requires you to go away for practical experience, we can reduce your rent for the time you're gone. 

To give you an idea of the costs involved in living on-campus versus off-campus, we have put together a table below outlining some things you should take into consideration when you are deciding on accommodation.

 

USQ Residential Colleges Private accommodation
As a college resident, the following is included in your accommodation fees:
  • accommodation
  • meals
  • cleaning of bathroom and common areas
  • bedding (excluding sheets) 
  • utilities (electricity, gas, water)
  • monthly broadband internet allowance
  • internal phone calls within residential colleges
  • organised social, cultural and sporting events
  • academic tutorial program
  • access to sporting and recreational facilities
  • 24-hour security service
  • pastoral care
Additional living expenses will include:
When staying in private accommodation, you will need to consider the following costs:
  • rent
  • food
  • electricity/gas
  • transport
  • clothing and toiletries
  • entertainment
  • phone calls
  • postage
  • laundry
You will also have a few establishment expenses (one-off payments) including:
  • bond/security deposit
  • two weeks rent in advance
  • electricity connection
  • telephone connection
  • gas connection
