Scholarships

A number of scholarships, bursaries, awards and prizes are available to students who decide to live on-campus.

Rural Residential Scholarship

The USQ Rural Residential Scholarships provide accommodation and meals in any of the three Residential Colleges of the University - McGregor, Steele Rudd or Concannon College.

The Rural Residential Scholarships are designed to assist rural students who have the ability to succeed in tertiary education but whose financial situation makes it difficult to do so.

The scholarships are available for students studying full-time at the Toowoomba campus of the University of Southern Queensland, with an approximate value of AUD3,350 per year.

Norma Margaret Anne Edwards Bursary - Concannon College

This bursary of an approximate AUD500 is awarded annually to one student on the following criteria:

  • the student must have completed a full year of residency in Concannon College and remain in college for the full year in which it is awarded
  • the student must have exhibited leadership within the framework of faith and the values and ethos of the college
  • the student must have promoted, by virtue of their own behaviour and influence, the values and ideals of the college as expressed in the Policy Statement for the college approved by the College Council.

Rachael Fontana Memorial Bursary - Steele Rudd College

There are two bursaries (up to AUD2,000 each) awarded annually to students from rural or remote areas of Australia who are living at Steele Rudd College.  One bursary is awarded to a student studying in any degree and who is undergoing financial hardship.  The other is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in the Faculty of Arts.

These bursaries are actively promoted during the academic year, including application details.

Annual academic awards and prizes

In March each year at the combined Inauguration Dinner, attended by the Vice-Chancellor and senior academic staff, up to 20 prizes and awards are made to residents to recognise their achievements in the previous academic year. This includes monetary awards, totalling in excess of AUD7000.

University wide scholarships

USQ offers a range of scholarships available to students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and participation in the wider community.
