Meals

During the weekdays there are two meal times per day – breakfast (where lunch can be collected) and dinner. On weekends and public holidays we offer lunch and a special, extended breakfast.

And if you’re fussy or have a special diet, don’t worry! Dietary requirements are catered for (e.g. halal) and we have engaged the services of a dietician to ensure the meals have good nutritional value. You can view a sample Residential Colleges menu (PDF 19 KB).

Linen

As a Steele Rudd resident, free linen and bedding is provided to you. Steele Rudd also offers a weekly laundering service for these supplied items.

Cleaning

A professional cleaning service is provided to maintain common areas and bathroom facilities at no extra charge. However, residents are required to keep their own bedrooms clean. Access to vacuum cleaners can be arranged through the Collegiate Team. 

Security

The Steele Rudd College complex is part of USQ’s 24-hour security service. Regular patrols of the facilities will be conducted by security guards ensuring your safety at all times.

Support

Living with other students, everyone will be in a similar situation. Collegiate staff and other senior college residents are always available to provide a personal level of support, networking, advice and companionship. Various life skills workshops and academic tutorial programs are conducted throughout each semester and are open to all residents of Steele Rudd.

Organised social and sporting events

To balance out your academic and personal lives, various social and sporting events are arranged throughout the semester, such as:

• Welcome and Inauguration Dinner
• Formal Dinner
• Inter-College Competitions (such as the Residential College Shield)
