Logo
The ACSC logo captures many of the research themes of the ACSC:
-
the blue raindrops represent water and water-related themes including the current and future use, management and predictability of water-related resources
-
the green overlaps are trees and show the link between water and vegetation
-
the fish in the centre of the logo highlights a connection between all forms of habitats and ecological themes
-
the top of the logo highlights elevation and the spatial and remote elements of work in the ACSC
-
groundwater is depicted along the underside of the logo (shows the connection between all elements of the water cycle from mountains to the subsurface within catchments
-
the human with outstretched hands highlights their connection with the living and non-living elements of the environment as one of the core elements of the ACSC logo and of the ACSC operations.
People live in catchments and their reliance on a range of resources (and their management of resources) to meet needs has had an enormous impact on the sustainability of these (e.g. current issues with water resources and water management). The ACSC is well-placed to work with organisations at local, state, national and international levels to address these environmental issues pertinent to society today with a goal of investigating the environmental and social sustainability within catchments.
