Climate Science, Agriculture, Environmental Measurement and Modelling

This research group focuses on developing integrated climate, agricultural, and water resource models to provide stronger predictive capability for regional agricultural, water planning and environmental management.

Research skills include:

  • use of the most advanced climate models to evaluate climate variability and change impacts on water use, agriculture and ecosystem
  • modelling climate change and variability and its application to catchment, landscape systems and agricultural production systems
  • linking seasonal and intra-seasonal climate forecast to agricultural systems and crop modelling and dam operations
  • intergrating climate modelling with sustainable agriculture systems
  • customising operational forecasts as web based and stand alone tools to managing climate risk and uncertainty
  • developing climate responsive insurance and investment policies.

Research is facilitated and managed by the group's current members.

Climate Outlook and Review

Professor Roger Stone's monthly Climate Outlook and Review provides valuable, timely review information regarding the next three month’s climate conditions based on the current SOI phase and also other key climate indicators and output from leading seasonal climate modelling centres. The most recent edition of the *Climate Outlook and Review  (702KB) is currently available.
