CRN Mobile Learning Evaluation Framework
As part of the successful Collaborative Research Network grant led by USQ with the Australian National University and the University of South Australia, ADFI is leading a project to create a Mobile Learning Evaluation Framework.
A global trend towards widespread and highly functional mobile computing offers many new opportunities for devices such as smartphones and tablet computers to be used in a range of educational settings.
This project aims to build a framework for evaluating mobile learning technologies – a crucial enterprise, given that the authoritative evaluation of mobile learning is still an emergent scholarly discipline.
While the project team members are aware of several existing evaluation methodologies, none of them is sufficiently targeted to ensure comprehensive and rigorous coverage, hence the need to elaborate and test our own evaluation framework.
This proposed program is unique and will position the Collaborative Research Network strongly as a recognised leader in this scholarly field.

CRN Investigating the impact of a web-based, ‘discussion-support’, agricultural-climate information system on Australian farmers’ operational decision making

Agricultural-climate information system

This project, which is being funded by the Collaborative Research Network Program, is a collaboration between USQ, Australian National University and the University of South Australia. The project is being led by USQ’s Australian Centre for Sustainable Catchments with support from the Australian Digital Futures Institute.
The project measures the capability of farmers to make operational decisions using a web-based, discussion support tool which disseminates contextualised climate information. Web-based climate ‘discussion-support’ systems are increasingly being used to overcome the limitations inherent in computer-based Decision Support Systems (DSS). This project builds on the hugely successful Asia Pacific Network (APN) pilot project and is expected to enhance the well-being and sustainability of Australian farming communities, particularly in rural, regional and remote areas.
