2013 USQ Faculty of Business & Law Alumnus of the Year

The 2013 USQ Alumnus of the Year for the Faculty of Business and Law, Craig Scroggie is a well-respected and accomplished business man with over 20 years’ experience in the ICT industry. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of NEXTDC, an IT service provider located in Brisbane, Queensland. Prior to joining NEXTDC, Mr Scroggie held the position of Vice President & Managing Director of Symantec in the Pacific region.

Mr Scroggie’s success began at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). He holds, a Graduate Certificate in Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, and a Master of Business Administration from USQ.

Prior to his promotion as CEO of NEXTDC, Mr Scroggie served as a Non-Executive Director of NEXTDC for 18 months, including as Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Committee. Mr Scroggie has previously held senior leadership positions with Veritas Software, Computer Associates, EMC Corporation and Fujitsu.

In addition, he has twice served as a judge in the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioners 2008 and 2009 Australian Privacy Awards and twice given evidence as an expert witness in the Australian Government Standing Committee on Communications Inquiry into Cyber Crime, and the Federal Parliament Joint Select Committee on Cyber Safety.

Mr Scroggie currently holds the position of Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Business, Economics & Law at La Trobe University; where he recently also served as Chairman on their Graduate School of Management Board. He is also the Deputy Chairman of the Foundation for IT Sustainability (FFITS) Board. Mr Scroggie recently held a number of industry leadership positions including, Chairman of the Storage Networking Industry Association Board, membership of the international CEO Forum, a Governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia, and a trustee for the Committee for Economic Development of Australia.
