USQ Chinese Alumni - Taiwan Chapter Opening Ceremony
The USQ Chinese Alumni - Taiwan Chapter, one of two new alumni chapters in Taiwan, recently had its official opening.
The opening ceremony, which was held on Sunday 26 October in the Pombidu International Conference Center in Taipei, attracted over 70 alumni. After registering to become a member of the chapter, individuals were given a free email account from the chapter and a USQ enamel lapel pin.
One of the main activities of the day was the election of the chapter chairperson and committee. Chapter members chose from 28 candidates for the 16 committee positions, which will be held for a three year term. Ms Yu, Wen-Hua, who was the key organiser of the chapter, was elected chairperson.
Ms Yu said that her main focus as chairperson will be on building strong connections among chapter members through a range of different activities. She is also interested in building cross-country links through online forums, such as exchanging views about the financial crisis with USQ alumni in Shanghai or Beijing as an example. The chapter has a website currently in development that will assist in this type of communication. Ms Yu's third main area of focus will be on maintaining and developing the chapter's attractiveness to all members to ensure the chapter remains strong.
