Selection criteria

To be considered for your faculties' award, Young Alumnus of the Year or International Alumnus of the Year, nominations should be based upon one or more of the following areas of achievement.

  1. Professional Outstanding Achievement: such as leadership in professional associations, personal development or peer recognition in chosen career. 
  2. Industry, Academic or Research Achievement: such as significant contribution in a research context or by peer recognition in an academic context. 
  3. Contribution to the Community: such as volunteering service in areas of health care, poverty, community service, or supporting community projects in areas of arts, education, sport and literacy or overcoming very significant personal adversity.

Eligibility 

  • The Nominee must hold an earned degree/diploma/graduate certificate from University of Southern Queensland, or its predecessors (QIT, DDIAE, UCSQ). 
  • No self-nominations will be accepted. Nominations for awards may be submitted by; other USQ Alumni, USQ or partner institute staff, employers or work colleagues, members of the community, family members or friends. 
  • Eligible individuals have been graduates for 3 or more years. Nominees for 2013 must have graduated no later than 31 December 2009. 
  • Alumni need not be employed in their trained discipline. 
  • Australian and international graduates (alumni) of USQ its predecessors and partner institutions are eligible candidates for the Alumnus of the Year. Awards are judged on merit of application, giving equal opportunity for Australian and International graduates.
  • Nominees for the international Alumnus of the Year award must have been living and working in a country other than Australia for more than three consecutive years. 
  • The Young Alumnus of the Year is to be awarded to an individual under 35 years of age as of the 31 December 2012. 
  • All entries must be submitted to University of Southern Queensland’s Alumni Office by 5.00pm (AEST) on Friday 1 February 2013.
