Khalid Al-Mabrouk Abdalla
Dr Khalid Al-Mabrouk Abdalla, winner of the 2012 USQ International Alumnus of the Year Award, moved to Toowoomba with his young family to study on-campus at USQ in 2006.
Dr Khalid studied both his Master of Project Management and Doctor of Philosophy at the Toowoomba campus. His decision to study at USQ was influenced by encouraging reports from his fellow countrymen. The positive reports continued when Dr Khalid finished his PhD as he encouraged fellow Libyans to undertake their PhD studies at USQ.
Dr Khalid wanted to return home to Africa and make a positive contribution to his beloved country. Currently, he is the Executive Vice-Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the Libyan Government’s Investment Promotion Fund as well as Chairman of the Libyan Investment Holding Company in Africa. He is responsible for the Libyan government’s massive investment program designed to build economic sustainability in developing countries particularly in Africa with investments that also benefit Libya’s poor.
Dr Khalid is also a devoted father to three children, with his first child, born in Toowoomba, and his second, Rahaff was born in Libya after he and his wife Einas returned home, and they have since had their third child.
