About us

The Faculty of Arts offers a unique opportunity for you to study a wide range of courses in humanities, communication and creative arts. As a student, you will be encouraged to combine theory and practice, explore your creativity, and be given opportunities to showcase your talents.

Our excellent facilities will allow you to put your skills into practice and our staff who are experts in learning and teaching are committed to supporting you through your learning journey.

Our faculty is made up of five schools and centres:

  • School of Creative Arts – offering courses in the areas of creative media, music, theatre and visual arts.
  • School of Humanities and Communication – offering a wide range of courses in fields such as international studies, social science, anthropology, journalism, human services and public relations.

  • Artsworx - the university’s in-house production and performance centre.

  • The Centre for Indigenous Knowledges (CAIK) – providing Indigenous Studies courses and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students prior to, and throughout, their studies. 

  • The Open Access College – offering support as well as foundation and pathway programs for students without the standard University entry qualifications

Our faculty also has a strong research foundation. Our faculty encourages a quality research culture for both its staff and its postgraduate research students by providing training and supervision, academic leadership, physical facilities, and financial support to enhance their research and scholarship potential and expertise.
