About the Faculty
Dean's WelcomeWelcome to the Faculty of Arts, which offers a unique opportunity to students to study across the areas of Humanities, Communication and Creative Arts. The Faculty teaches a wide range of disciplines from traditional areas such as Anthropology, History, Literature, Drama and Languages, to vocational areas such as Journalism, Public Relations and Counselling (Human Services), and in performance and creative practice areas such as Music, Multimedia, Acting and Visual Arts. Students are encouraged to combine theory and practice, analysis and creativity, study and experimentation. In 2009, the Faculty will introduce an exciting new undergraduate degree in Creative Arts that takes full advantage of the range of facilities, practice and knowledge available in the University, and to combine study across the performing arts disciplines. Most of the staff are based at USQ's main campus in the lovely regional city of Toowoomba, but the Faculty contributes also to the Bachelor of Applied Media program at the Springfield campus in the west of Brisbane, and to the Bachelor of Human Services program at the Fraser Coast campus in Hervey Bay. Wherever they are, and whether you study on campus or externally, you will find the academic and the general staff enthusiastic and helpful, and willing to spend time with you individually. The Faculty of Arts offers a comprehensive choice in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs through its two Schools: The Faculty's management structure is outlined in the Staff Directory.
