Awards and prizes

The following prizes and awards are presented at the Faculty of Arts annual awards ceremony held on the Sunday following graduation each year, with the exception of the Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize which is awarded in October each year.

Faculty awards

Faculty Medal	Awarded to a student who has displayed exceptional academic achievement at all levels of their Bachelor degree program.
The Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize	The Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize encourages established and emerging Australian poets. Awarded to an original, unpublished poem not exceeding fifty lines.	$2000
Jack Bestman Music Bursary	To assist music students wishing to attend the McGregor Schools.	$400
Honours Thesis Prize	Awarded to the student who has written the best Honours thesis.	$100 book voucher

School of Creative Arts awards

Creative Media	Dean's Prize for Creative Media Awarded to the graduating student who has achieved the highest grade in the Creative Media major.	$100
Music	Dean's Prize for Music Awarded to the graduating student who has achieved the highest grade in the Music major.	$100
Theatre	Dean's Prize for Theatre Awarded to the graduating student who has achieved the highest grade in the Theatre major.	$100
Visual Arts	Rosemary Lakerink Award Awarded to a third year Visual Arts student whose studio work is of the highest standard.	$100 book voucher
Visual Arts	Hugh Child Memorial Award Awarded to the graduating Visual Arts student who has achieved the highest Grade Point Average.	$100 book voucher

School of Humanities and Communication awards

Anthropology	Dean's Prize for Anthropology Highest achieving grade in the Anthropology major by graduating student.	$100
Communications and Media	Dean's Prize for Communication and Media Studies Highest achieving grade in the Com & Media Studies major by graduating student.	$100
English Literature	Dean's Prize for English Literature Awarded to a current student who has achieved the highest grade in the English Literature major.	$100
	David Kilmartin Memorial Literary Award Awarded to the English Literature major student in the Bachelor of Arts degree whose academic achievement over the program has been of the highest order.	$100
	Jessie Mary Vasey (War Widows' Guild) Memorial Prize Awarded to the best female graduate in the English Literature major of the Bachelor of Arts degree.	$250
History	Maurice French History Prize Awarded to the student with the highest Grade Point Average enrolled in the History Honours program.	$500
History	Dean's Prize for History Awarded to the graduating student who has achieved the highest grade in the History major.	$100
International Relations	Dean's Prize for International Relations Highest achieving grade in the International Relations major by graduating student.	$100
Journalism	The Australian Press Council Essay Prize Awarded to the student who received the highest mark for the Ethics Essay in the course JRN2006.	$300
	Dean's Prize for Journalism Highest achieving grade in the Journalism major by graduating student.	$100
	Keith Willey Award for Journalism Awarded to the on-campus continuing full-time journalism student who achieves the highest academic standard in the first and second years.	$500
Languages & Culture (German)	Dean's Prize for Language and Culture (German) Highest achieving grade in the Language and Culture (German) major by graduating student	$100
Languages & Culture (Indonesian)	Dean's Prize for Indonesian Awarded to the graduating student who has achieved the highest grade in the Indonesian major.	$100
Languages & Culture (Mandarin Chinese)	Dean's Prize for Language and Culture (Mandarin Chinese) Highest achieving grade in the Language and Culture (Mnadarin Chinese) major by graduating student.	$100
