Effective workplace communication courses

Short courses in effective communication are available to staff in workplaces. You can choose from any of the following courses, or alternatively we can tailor a course to suit your staff development needs.

Effective Presentations and Speeches

This course provides a set of easy to follow techniques for producing high impact oral presentations and speeches. It examines key principles of effective public speaking, and offers techniques for effectively overcoming nervousness. This course is of value to those involved in public speaking, teaching and training, and anyone who has to present information to groups.

Winning that Job: Addressing Selection Criteria

This course is designed to empower you with the knowledge and skills to address job selection criteria effectively so that you maximise your chances of getting the jobs you apply for and advancing your career.

Winning that Job: Performing in Job Interviews

This course aims to equip you with the 'secrets to success' for job interviews so that you are able to perform at your very best in interview situations. It will show you how to prepare for job interviews, maximise confidence and also predict what kinds of things an employer is likely to want.

Developing Persuasive Arguments and Winning Cases

This course explains key principles of effective persuasion, provides you with the knowledge needed to develop strong and ethically justifiable cases, and the skills to critically analyse and evaluate the strength and quality of other people's arguments.  This helps with written reports, business proposals and funding applications and is useful if done with either Effective Report Writing or Winning Business: Proposals and Funding Applications.

Improving Workplace Communication

This is a course that can be useful if taken by all the staff in your organisation, department or section, or those in managerial and supervisory positions. Options include strategies for communicating with others accurately and effectively; or establishing a productive and motivated workplace environment, and can be tailed to suit your individual needs.

Resolving Conflict in the Workplace

How conflict is managed can be critical to whether it has a constructive or destructive influence. This course provides a range of practical techniques for managing conflict situations and difficult people. It addresses the root causes of conflict, and offers strategies to help minimise the potentially destructive influence of conflict on workplace efficiency and morale.

Working Effectively in Teams

This course examines the role that group dynamics play in establishing and maintaining productive teams. It also covers areas including leadership, team-building, effective decision making in team environments and strategies for addressing factors that can lead to ineffective team performance and poor team decision-making.

Communicating Across Cultures

This course is designed to help equip you with increased skills in communicating with people from differing cultural backgrounds, and widens one's perspectives of the world and awareness of the issues and barriers that often work against us when communicating with people from cultural backgrounds which differ from our own.

Effective Report Writing

This course covers a range of strategies and techniques that can be usefully applied in report writing including: task and problem analysis, task planning, information research, critical analysis, and formatting and structuring information. The course also pays particular attention to the role of language and expression in formal writing.

Effective Communication in Business

This course presents a range of practical techniques in the areas of letter writing, documenting meetings and recording and storing of information flow in critical areas such as incident reports and customer and employee complaints.

Winning Business: Proposals and Funding Applications

This course examines strategies and techniques crucial to the development of effective business proposals and applications for funding, providing information on task analysis and planning, case building and formatting.

The workshops

When clients provide us with a brief overview of their particular needs and concerns, we then tailor the delivery of the courses in a way that best addresses their requirements. The courses are run on an 'as needs basis' by negotiating a suitable time.
