Learning and teaching

Many Arts lecturers are Teaching Award winners, at National, University of Southern Queensland and Faculty levels, while others are conducting research to enhance the learning of all students across the university as well as nationally and internationally.

The learning and teaching goal in the Faculty of Arts is to enhance teaching performance and to provide high quality, flexible and inclusive learning experiences that promote the lifelong learning, critical enquiry and career opportunities of our students.

We are committed to excellence in education and to maintaining the University’s reputation as a leader in flexible and distance education. Our current industry-relevant degrees support our learning and teaching objectives.

Scholarship in learning and teaching consists of research through individual and collaborative analysis, research-based enhancement and peer evaluation of current practices. Many of our lecturers are involved in enhancing your learning journey by conducting research.

As learners and teachers, our staff in the School of Creative Arts and the School of Humanities and Communication, the Open Access College and the Centre for Australian Indigenous Knowledges undertake professional development to continuously enhance the quality of the learning experiences they design for the students they teach.

The Office for Learning and Teaching recognises teaching excellence and outstanding contributions to student learning through Citation and Award schemes for academic and/or professional staff.
