Theatre
Our theatre discipline is one of the longest running professional training regimes in Australia. Our graduates continue to secure career-long employment in the entertainment industry, and staff have built the current major to focus on equipping students for being innovators in the future directions of this industry.
Though practical and theoretical courses, you will be provided with a sound and broad understanding of creative and collaborative theatrical practice, underpinned by principles of professional best practice. After the first year, you can choose to audition and interview to pursue specialised training in the Acting, Stage Management / Technical Production or Theatre Studies studios across second and third years only in the Bachelor of Creative Arts.
Theatre staff have specialities in arts sector and regional arts development, directing, acting, voice, dramaturgy, creative development of new works, Renaissance and gender studies, scenography and critical pedagogies. Cross-disciplinary practice and student driven projects are encouraged as best practice in a work environment small enough to provide for flexible learning. You will have many opportunities to develop and showcase your abilities through various performance projects produced in conjunction with Artsworx.
Theatre studios include:
- Acting
- Stage Management/Scenography
