Resources

In addition to those online and print information sources provided by the Library, a list of Internet-based resources has been collated to assist students studying Anthropology.

The Australian Anthropological Society

The Australian Anthropological Society represents the profession of anthropology in Australia. Its goals are to promote the advancement of anthropology as a professional discipline grounded in the systematic pursuit of knowledge, to promote its responsible use in the service of humankind, and to promote professional training and practice in anthropology. The Society aims also to provide forums, through its newsletter, online publications, journal and annual conference, in which anthropologists can exchange information and engage in debates central to anthropological theory and practice.

The Australian Archaeological Association

The Australian Archaeological Association is one of the largest archaeological organisations in Australia, representing a diverse membership of professionals, students and others with an interest in archaeology. It aims to promote the advancement of archaeology; to provide an organisation for the discussion and dissemination of archaeological information and ideas; to convene meetings at regular intervals; to publicise the needs for the study and conservation of archaeological sites and collections; and to publicise the work of the Association.

Facilities for students

Anthropology has a research laboratory for analysis of archaeological materials. Students currently have access to this facility through project work and as volunteer lab assistants.

Anthropology also has an extensive and comprehensive library available to advanced level students under supervision.
