German language

Goethe-Institut - the home page of the Goethe-Institut - a wealth of information and learning materials grouped under the headings: Kultur und Gesellschaft; Deutsch lemen and lehren; Institute Jetzt Deutsch Lernen - a link reachable from the Goethe-Institut home page, examples of texts taken from the youth magazine of the Süddeutsche Zeitung and prepared for interactive learning.
Deutsch Lern.net - graded, interactive exercises on various topics of cultural, political, linguistic etc interest. Deutsche Welle - the home page of Deutsche Welle, the official German authority for broadcasting internationally in German and other languages.
Language Teaching Resources - Queensland teacher Katherine Munro has assembled a multitude of material for the learning of German, Indonesian, Chinese and Japanese. Deutschland online - information and articles on German culture, politics and economics with a link to the magazine 'Deutschland'; German, English and other languages.
Wissen.de - on-line encyclopaedia Spiegel online - the famous German news magazine 'Der Spiegel'.

Facilities

The computers in the Computer Laboratory (Room Q256) have German, Indonesian and Mandarin Chinese language learning software installed to assist students in their language learning. Students need to contact their Lecturer or the Technical Officer in Room Q250 for access.


Students can watch NTDTV Chinese programs in Room Q253 any time when the room is available. Students should contact their Lecturer or the Technical Officer in Room Q250 for access.

After hours access

Students have access to the Computer Laboratory after-hours for conducting research and completing assignments. Normal after hours access times during semester are 6.00pm - 9.30pm daily for weekdays, and 9.00am - 5.30pm daily for weekends or public holidays. The after hours access authorisation form is available from reception on the 2nd floor of Q Block, and must be signed by the lecturer.
