"Studying at the USQ has allowed me to indulge my passion to participate in some of the nation's largest sporting events. In 2004, I learnt of the need for volunteer media officials at the Lexmark Indy 300. This was to be my chance to indulge my passion to participate in international motorsport, meet famous people, and most importantly, network with the industry's movers and shakers.

I met Champ Car drivers and got invited back for the next year. This experience allowed me to travel to Western Australia for Telstra Rally Australia. It has also helped me gain a position as a Feature Writer at www.paddocktalk.com. These events sent me on a huge learning curve. USQ studies put me in good stead for these events but as everyone will tell you, experience is crucial. My major tasks included assisting in writing media releases, conducting research, organizing press conferences and helping journalists.

Being a Media Official allowed me to demonstrate to myself that I can make a career from Public Relations. I have gained confidence and knowledge to go into the workforce and hopefully, gain a career in motorsport PR."
