Welcome to the School of Creative Arts here at the University of Southern Queensland.

I’m Janet McDonald, and I’m the Head of the School of Creative Arts here, and this is A-Block. This is where we do all of our work, in studio practice and in theory in the Bachelor of Creative Arts, which looks at four discipline areas specifically in Creative Arts – Music, Theatre, Visual Arts and Creative Media.

We also have another degree called the Bachelor of Applied Media which is offered down at our Springfield Campus and that looks after TV and Radio Broadcasts. What we do here is, we like to say, we enable emerging artists. That’s what we do – that’s our unique brand, and that’s what makes us different to everybody else offering a similar kind of degree in this particular field. What we like to do is make sure that our undergrads and our graduates are really connected to the networks they’re going to be working in, and also working towards their particular pathways in either going into teaching, or into postgraduate research or into working inside the industry.

So that’s what we do here in A-Block, there’s always a lot of fun to be had, there’s always a lot of interesting things to be seen, and if you come and study with us, we do make it our promise to you that we will enable you into becoming an emerging artist for the future.
