Choral Recital
Thrill to the sound of fresh choral singing and promising vocal soloists when the USQ Singers take centre-stage under the direction of Phillip Gearing with special guest Baritone, Jon Maskell.
The centrepiece of the recital will be Handel's rousing Dettingen Te Deum, composed in celebration of King George II's triumphant return from the Battle of Dettingen in 1743.
One of Handel's most elaborate and dazzling compositions, this masterwork contains some meditative movements of great beauty, but it is known particularly for its grand and triumphant choral arrangements.
Other works will include Purcell's, Dido's lament and With drooping wings (Dido and Aeneas); Haydn's Achieved is the glorious work (The Creation); and Mendelssohn's He that shall endure to the end (Elijah) and How lovely are the messangers (St Paul).
