Against the Grain
Curator Dr Beata Botorowicz
An exhibition exploring cultural hybridity through the use of contemporary sand painting and platinum photography.
Jason Castro Dooley investigates his dual heritage through the combination of contemporary Western art and traditional Native American and Mexican art forms.
The work explores the role of anthropology in the representation of Indigenous peoples as static relics of the past.
These notions are challenged through examining the Eurocentric frameworks of such representations.
