Competition Guidelines

1. The competition opens on Monday 4 March and will close on Tuesday 7 May 2013, with the winner being notified by Friday 10 May.

2. The competition is open to all SE Queensland secondary school students (Years 8-12).

3. The parameters for the composition are:

• work must be an original composition
• length, maximum 4min 30sec
• can be in any genre including but not limited to pop, rap, classical, folk, rock, blues or worship
• can be submitted with any instrumentation, but MUST include vocals and lyrics

4. Submission must be made in recorded format which can be submitted via email or Facebook - suitable formats include YouTube link, sound cloud or MP3.

5. By entering this competition, students acknowledge that their work is original and may be linked on USQ's Facebook page and attributed to them as composer.

6. All entrants will be required to sign a release form.

7. The winning work will be arranged and performed by USQ lecturers and students as part of the USQ Artsworx 'Your Song, My Way' concert on 25 and 26 May 2013.

8. The winner will receive 4 complimentary tickets to attend this concert (either date) for themselves and family/friends.

9. The winner will also be offered 2 hours in the USQ recording studios to record their work either solo or with another musician (in 2013).

10. The winner’s school will also have to opportunity to attend 'Your Song, My Way' at a special group discount price.
