Education
USQ Artsworx in association with the University's Department of Theatre, offers local and regional schools an excellent range of theatre engagement opportunities throughout each Semester.
Ranging from live theatre performance in the Arts Theatre, to tours into schools, and to the annual Shakespeare in the Park Festival workshops and mainstage production, both primary and high school students have a panoply of performing arts choices.
Schools are extended special ticket discounts for their students and are provided with accompanying reference resources and opportunities for discussions with the Director and cast members after most productions. In addition, the USQ Department of Theatre produces teaching and reference resources as well as maintaining a commitment to regional community engagement:
School Bookings
Great savings are available for school bookings of 20 or more. The accompanying teacher receives a complimentary ticket.
Preparing Your Students
To ensure that students and the rest of the audience enjoy the performance, teachers are requested to provide students with an awareness of the program's content and theatre etiquette.
Teachers' Notes
A resource kit for theatre productions is available for teachers to use as a reference source. Information usually includes notes on the playwright and what influenced their work, characters and relationships, the synopsis, as well as the historical context and themes explored by the text. Some resource kits also include details about the production process. Teachers' Notes are available from all 2003 theatre productions onwards and include:
