World Shakespeare Congress
This year, Queensland plays host to the prestigious World Shakespeare Congress and this honour will be marked with a year full of Shakespearean activities throughout the state.
The event will include numerous performances, workshops, public forums, exhibitions (‘Shakespeare in Brisbane' and ‘Shakespeare and the Law'), community activities (such as the Shakespeare Film Festival) and various educational projects.
Queensland teachers and students will have the opportunity to partake in the Education Day, held on July 21, as well as participate in the Shake it and Make It artistic and film projects being run by the Department of Education and the Arts and the University of Queensland.
In association with World Shakespeare 2006, USQ will be hosting a mini-conference for post-graduate and emerging scholars a the Empire Theatre on 14 and 15 July. This two-day colloquium will showcase new research in Shakespearean studies, and is an official event of the Australian and New Zealand Shakespeare Association.
