Swans Synopsis
This story, like many others, begins in a country far far away from here. This story however, is unlike any you have heard or seen before. It all begins when a King marries a Wicked Queen who does not like any child. The King has seven children with one being Princess Elise and the others six Princes. On their wedding day, the Wicked Queen decides to sell Elise as a slave to a peasant man and woman. Elise's loyal brother's try to attempt to free her however are unsuccessful.
As the brother's approach their Father about Elise's abduction, the Wicked Queen turns the King against his children by manipulating their word against hers. In the Prince's attempt to find out what the Wicked Queen has done with their sister, they are turned to six white swans and forced to leave the palace.
After eight years, Elise is returned as a fifteen year old girl that the story begins to get interesting. As the Wicked Queen becomes extremely jealous of Elise's beauty, she tries to use her evil magic to make her beauty disappear. When these spells do not work, the Wicked Queen rubs mud all over Elise's face and entangles her hair so that the King will not recognise her. When Elise runs into her Father he does not believe it is her as he thinks Elise is dead. The King then calls for the guards to take her away, but she escapes into the dark forest where her journey in finding her beloved brother's begins.
In the dark forest Elise and the audience are introduced to the wide variety of characters who become apart of her journey. The rude and shallow Butterfly, Apple Tree and Bird ignore Elise's attempts to obtain help. It isn't until the kind old woman directs Elise to where six white swans are that the reality of the Wicked Queen's actions take affect!
When Elise is reunited with her brothers, she discovers all of the factors of the curse which the Wicked Queen placed upon them. To find out the twist of what happens to the six white swans during sunrise and sunset, you will have to watch to play and see for yourselves!
One night Elise has a dream where a woman tells her how to release her brother's from the curse but she will need to have sufficient courage and patience. Can Elise accomplish the task to free her brother's from their unruly fate?
To make the plot even thicker, a Young King arrives while Elise has begun the task of freeing her brother's. This task involves being silent until the task is complete. It is love at first sight and although Elise has not spoken a word, she is taken back to his palace to be the Young King's wife. As Elise's silence continues, rumours begin suggesting that she is a witch. As doubt forms into the Young Kings heart he has no choice but to let the people judge her which may entail being burnt at the stake. Will Elise be killed? Will the brother's be cursed for the rest of their life? You will need to watch the play to find out!!
