Characters

Olivia: A vibrant nine-year-old who is the protagonist of the story. She yearns for adventure.

Storyteller: This wise elder is older than time and the narrator for the story.

Orologiaki: The ringleader of the bullies, who is manipulative and cunning and seeks power and control.

Bomba: The right-hand man of Orologiaki. He is simple-minded, but has great physical strength and the potential for violence.

Pera: The third member of the bully gang, Pera is a smart, evil witch, always ready to back up Orologiaki.

Rhythms: A comical group of four barefoot spirits who communicate through rhythm, dance and song, with defining features and personalities.

Margaret: A maternal and protective magpie, who takes Olivia under her wing and fights for what she believes in.

Three Trees: Timeless, slow, beautifully clam and exude a deep wisdom.

Family of Ants (boy, girl, mother, Uncle Greenie): Despite their size, they save the day, drawing from their courage, persistence and immense strength.

Rainbow Serpent: The spirit of the land and the spirit of the earth, she is kind and fair.

Lost: Metaphorically, this child is voiceless and almost non-existent.

Sun: Bright and always joyous, she provides warmth throughout the entire play.

Mother: Represents love and the domestic home.

Anthony and Charles: Olivia's neighbours.
