Theatre Etiquette

Before arriving at the theatre, it may be wise to go over some important aspects of theatre etiquette and some general information first.

Ensure students are aware:

  • For the duration of the performance,  the theatre will be quite dark. For this reason, it's important that everyone stays in their seats. Ask for assistance from an usher or a teacher if you need help.
  • An usher is a person who is there to ensure the audience is looked after before, during and after the show. They know all kinds of information about the show and the university and are ready to help you out. They might also ask you to do something and it's important you follow their instructions.
  • The show will run for approximately one hour. A toilet stop is advisable before the show and our ushers are happy to assist you. Toilets are located nearby.
  • Don't stand on your seat or kick the seat in front of you. This is annoying for the people sitting around you, and may mean they can't see the show.
  • If you have a mobile phone or electronic device please turn it off.
  • To make sure everybody gets a seat, it is important not to leave gaps between occupied seats. Bunch up!
  • Most importantly, the show is all pretend! Don't be scared! We promise that you'll be safe the whole time!
