The Taming of the Shrew

The Taming of the Shrew 2005Greetings and welcome to USQ's production of Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare.  Directed by Leticia Caceres, this show will entertain and excite audiences of all ages with its witty humour, modern design and colourful costumes. Performed by the third year actors, Taming of the Shrew is a modern interpretation of life in the 1930's Argentina.  

These Teachers' Notes are designed to give teachers and students an insight into the production itself, outlining prominent themes and issues within the play that can be used to help students understand the play text. These Teachers' Notes will give a detailed analysis of the major themes such as gender, domestic violence, the role that identity plays in The Shrew and how marriage is structured as an economic institution. The director's vision in relation to these issues will also be discussed along with games that can be used to assist in student learning and understanding of The Shrew. We hope these will be useful to you and your classes.
