It may be helpful to explore the content and context of the play with your students by engaging in the following points of discussion.

• In what way does Toby help Cindy through her journey? How do you think her journey would have been different if Toby was not in the play?
• Cindy does not see herself as being beautiful or special. What are some of the things that you like about her? If she was your friend, how would you make her feel special?
• Do you think Toby is a good friend to Cindy and Burtock? What are some examples from the play that show this?
• Why do Mrs Van Undersquire, Sophia and Mauderina treat Cindy so poorly? How do you think they feel about her? How is this shown in the play?
