Theatre Etiquette

When attending a performance, it is important that respect is given to fellow audience members and the performers. By applying appropriate theatre etiquette, it will allow everyone to have an enjoyable time and performers to be at their best.

  • Buses will be greeted by the friendly characters from the Children and Young People's theatre course. They will encourage the students to get into the spirit of the play with short games before the show starts. They will then proceed to direct you to your seats.
  • Please be aware that no photography or recording equipment is allowed within the theatre.
  • No food or drink is allowed to be consumed in the theatre. This includes snack food such as lollies and chips, and no gum!
  • If you need to leave the theatre during the performance, please refrain from making loud noises and movements as it may disrupt others in the audience. Younger children should be accompanied by a supervising adult.
  • Try not to bump or kick the seat in front of you. This can be a very annoying distraction and one that could ruin the experience of the person sitting in front of you.
  • Please turn off all mobile phones. Not only does this disrupt the audience, but also the performers. Other devices such as pagers and watch alarms should also be turned off.
