Graduate InductionThe Graduate Induction program aims to assist SME's (small and medium sized enterprises) in the recruitment and induction of new graduates. There are many benefits for SME's in employing USQ work ready graduates:
Graduates have much to offer small business and case studies have shown that they can have a very positive impact on business outcomes. SME's can engage USQ students in solution focused work experience placements that provide clear benefits for both employers and students. USQ graduates can assist SME's to grow and develop an edge over the competition. USQ is committed to helping employers get the best out of their graduates, by providing the resources and expertise necessary to manage a graduate program that will enhance business development. Induction programsResearch has shown that effective induction programs enhance individual and in turn, team performance. This aspect of the Beyond Education program will aim to assist employers develop more effective induction programs for new graduates. Allocating a manager to work closely with new graduates as an induction mentor has been shown to have a positive impact on employee performance. A coaching approach is effective in this regard whereby a manager stimulates the graduate with guiding questions such as, 'how are you going to do that?, what resources will you need?'. Employing new staff is a time consuming and expensive process. Employers who participate in this program will be assisted to get the best person for the job, and retain and maximise the performance of new staff. WorkshopsAs part of this aspect of Beyond Education we will be holding a series of workshops to that will cover the issue of best practice in graduate induction. Presenters at these seminars will be senior HR executives with extensive experience in developing graduate induction programs for SME's.
