Mentees

The mentees are current second, third, and fourth year undergraduates and post-graduate students of USQ.

As the mentee, it is your responsibility to make the most out of your mentoring relationship. It is up to you to build rapport with your mentor and ask the right questions, seek relevant information and utilise the connections that you are given.

Mentee Opportunities

This program will provide you with opportunities to receive encouragement, ignite your motivation, develop employability skills and provide direction for your future career goals. The success of the program will depend on you. Your ability to establish a relationship based on trust, respect and a rapport with your mentor will determine what you get in return.

It is important for you to define with your mentor the boundaries of your mentoring relationship. Identify what you would like to achieve from the relationship. Are you seeking:

  • career development advice
  • networking opportunities
  • input on employability skills

Mentee Involvement

Mentees who are interested in participating in the Career Mentoring program are required to register. In order to do this students must complete the Career Mentoring Student Registration Form (see below in 'How to Register').

The objective of the orientation session will be for students to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the mentor and mentee's roles and responsibilities under the program. Opportunities will be provided to ask further questions.

As mentee, you will be required to have contact with your mentor approximately twice a month. We do encourage you to meet face-to-face with your mentor at least three times during the mentoring period, however, on occasions it may be more convenient to make contact by telephone or via email.

We invite our students to register for the program and discover for themselves the opportunities and benefits that Career Mentoring provides.

How to register

Registrations are now closed. Registrations will open in Semester 1 2010.
