Tanya Berderow - Bachelor of Commerce
Finalist, AIM Rural and Remote Manager of the Year 2006

I found that the USQ Bachelor of Commerce provided a broad overview of the different career paths a Commerce degree could take. In particular, the degree provided me with the necessary qualifications required for my career to advance, with further studies specifically related to Accounting.

I found that the flexibility provided by the external study option to be very helpful and worthwhile. This study option allowed me to work full time in my chosen career, gaining valuable on-the-job training as well as completing the study program part time.

As a USQ graduate, I have no hesitation in recommending to prospective students the USQ Bachelor of Commerce degree, and in particular the external study option, as I certainly received support when it was needed most.

At 40 it was a little daunting to return to study and a university campus. However I soon discovered USQ was very welcoming to all students, regardless of age, and it provided a supportive and encouraging environment in which to learn. I also made some new friends, young and not so young.

I studied both on-campus at USQ Fraser Coast and externally through Toowoomba. The lecturers, study materials, facilities, library and communication via Internet were all excellent and very accessible.

The courses have been challenging but enjoyable and the whole university experience has improved my time management skills, given my self-confidence a boost and certainly given my life a change in a new, positive direction.
