Neil Hughes - Postgraduate studies in Project Management
Project Manager

Having just recently completed postgraduate studies in project management at USQ, it has given me time to reflect on the experience and the memories have all been positive. The level of professionalism of the lecturers is very good. The combination of academic theory and real-world experience has prepared me for a new career and given me the confidence to undertake further studies.

The friendships made with other students are something that will stand the test of time. As well as friendships the experience has left me with colleagues at a similar career level who I can contact for help when needed.

I recommend the course to anybody looking to forward their career with postgraduate studies. As well as improved career standing, I found the program well balanced. I can apply what I have learned in the work place. My USQ studies have given me the wider knowledge needed to be able to undertake high level duties.

I am finding this course extremely useful in my working life and it is helping me to do a better job.

It was the only distance education course on project management I could find, and having a qualification such as this postgraduate certificate certainly increases my job prospects.

There is quite a lot of work in the assignments, but if you choose to do the research suggested by the course you will certainly benefit from the knowledge.

The USQ website is great and from someone who has done distance education previously and had to mail assignments, being able to submit them electronically is a huge improvement. The library resources are good and the readings included with the course material are very beneficial.

Studying by external study mode through online learning is in most cases the only option for busy people who, through their location, work or family commitments, are unable to attend classes. USQ provides students located around the world with excellent and appropriate resources to successfully complete their studies at their own pace anytime, anywhere around the world. These resources include the latest web portal technology interfacing with a secure student website with ready access to information, communication, student history and virtual classroom discussion forums.

The lecturers and support staff provide assistance with technology and career development, are always willing to assist students in a friendly and professional manner. The Lecturers go out of their way provide comprehensive study notes, guidance through discussion forums and access to power-point presentations presented to on campus students. Some residential schools are available, giving students the opportunity for concentrated study and interpersonal interaction with other students.

I have never studied by on-campus mode. I feel I have an advantage over on-campus students in that the resources provided are the same, yet I have the added support of being able to study at my own pace and have the advantage of written feedback from other students with different backgrounds and cultures from across the world.
