DARE (Dream Aspire Reach Experience) Indigenous Secondary School Mentoring Program
About DARE
DARE has been designed to help Indigenous students Dream, Aspire, Reach and Experience. The aim of the program is to help Indigenous students overcome difficulties associated with participating in higher education. The DARE program focuses on developing the aspiration of students through face to face mentoring and engagement with parents, teachers and the Indigenous community.
The program involoves:
- cross cultural awareness training for mentors
- on-campus activities and tours
- three day camp focusing on leadership, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture,career guidance and planning
- award Ceremony with guest speakers.
Parents and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members are invited to attend an official DARE launch which will include meet and greet, on-campus activities and awards ceremony. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and community members are also encouraged to showcase their successes at the camp and awards ceremony.
