Indigenous Studies Courses

 The Centre for Australian Indigenous Knowledges has established a suite of Indigenous Studies courses. These courses are designed to provide students with an understanding of Australia's Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

The aim of these courses is to acquaint USQ students with a variety of Indigenous concepts in traditional and contemporary situations. Students will be introduced to a number of aspects of Indigenous culture, social structure and knowledge, beginning with basic concepts of identity progressing and moving to more complex concepts such as the intricacies of cultural intellectual property rights.

The courses currently form part of a major study within the Faculty of Education and a minor study within the Faculty of Arts. The courses available through the Centre are:

EDC2200 Indigenous Perspectiver for Educators;
KNL1001 Indigenous Cultural Identity;
KNL1002 Torres Strait Islander Studies;
KNL2001 Indigenous Knowledge and Australian Heritage;
KNL3001 Indigenous Australian Cultures and Communities;
