Charges

The University has adopted a user-pays principle for the operation of its Transport Motor Pool. Users are currently charged by the following formula:

  • AU$14.00 per hour, to the nearest 15 minutes, or
  • AU$91.00 per day (whichever is the lesser).

Charges are inclusive of fuel costs.

User Faculties/Departments are billed on a regular basis by Facilities Management through the University's General Journal system, with vehicle odometer readings and log book entries used to cost and apportion charges according to the "debit" details provided at time of booking.

Overnight Charges

When a vehicle is kept overnight for the purpose of an early start, or if the user cannot return it until the next morning, it will not be subject to a holding charge unless:

  • the vehicle is collected before 5:00pm the day before use, or
  • it's returned later than 7:00am after the last day of use.

In this case, the hourly rate will be charged for each hour prior to 5:00pm and for each hour after 7:00am the vehicle is kept.

If the vehicle is actually booked for and used during this window (i.e. between 5:00pm and 7:00am the next day) then normal charges will apply.

Late Cancellation

If a vehicle booking is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice of the intended booking commencement, it will attract a booking cancellation fee.

The current fee is AU$25.00
