20th Australasian Conference on the Mechanics of Structures of Materials (ACMSM20)

The 20th Australasian Conference on the Mechanics of Structures and Materials (ACMSM20) was held at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) Toowoomba, 2-5 December 2008. The conference was hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and Surveying, University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.

The theme for the 2008 ACMSM conference was Futures in Mechanics of Structures and Materials. The first Australasian conference on mechanics of structures and materials began at the University of New South Wales in 1967 as an initiative of the late Prof FS Shaw. Subsequently, these conferences have been held bi-annually as a forum for exchanging latest research in the field of mechanics of structures and materials by the researchers in the Australasian region, the last one being held at ‘Garden City' Christchurch in December 2006.
