The Centre of Excellence in Engineered Fibre Composites (CEEFC), a Research Centre at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) has played a leading role in the development of fibre composite applications in civil infrastructure. CEEFC has partnered with several industry partners to develop the first fibre composite bridge in Australia and other notable projects including the fibre composite walers for Brisbane riverwalk.
A two-day international workshop on Fibre Composites in Civil Infrastructure (FCCI) - Past, Present and Future was held at USQ Toowoomba, 1-2 December 2008. The workshop was hosted by the CEEFC, Faculty of Engineering and Surveying, USQ. Over seventy delegates including industry and research organisations attended the workshop.
The aim of the workshop was to bring together leading researchers, industry partners and asset owners who have got a keen interest in implementing the fibre composites in civil infrastructure. This workshop increased the awareness and understanding of fibre composites in civil applications. It also presented an opportunity for industries to showcase their technologies.
