Facilitator CoP
This Community of Practice (CoP) was established in 2010 to enable USQ CoP facilitators to build their capacity and share their practice around the critical role of leading their communities.
What is the focus?
The focus is on creating a community where facilitators can share and build their leadership capacity to cultivate the success of USQ Communities of Practice.
Our role
The CoP provides a dedicated time for facilitators to share their CoP experiences, knowledge and resources to develop leadership skills that effectively meet the needs of members. As USQ CoPs are member driven, the facilitator role is quite different from familiar course, Faculty leadership or traditional hierarchical management roles. It is an informal leadership role that requires the capacity to foster an environment that builds and sustains a dynamic and engaged community, and consciously address shared member and institutional goals. The academic and professional staff facilitators are situated at many different institutional levels and locations. They work together to develop their capability and strategies to negotiate a positive environment for CoPs to flourish within the institutional context.
Resources
A range of resources for CoP facilitators have been developed by Associate Professor Jacquie McDonald during her Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) Teaching Fellowship titled Community, domain, practice: facilitator’s catch-cry for revitalising learning and teaching through communities of practice.
