SYNOPSIS:

This course is a continuation of studies in technical production areas of theatre for those students who wish to pursue a career in the live entertainment industry. It provides advanced study, training and experience of the Deputy Stage Manager/Theatre Practitioner including the development of the physical stage and aspects in mounting a production. Special attention will be paid to the development of a professional work method approach.



OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this course students will:

  • demonstrate a knowledge of the duties of the Deputy Stage Manager, and/or senior technical or administrative position;

  • demonstrate advanced skills as a Deputy Stage Manager, and/or senior technical or administrative position;

  • demonstrate a practical understanding and awareness of production and artistic staff interaction as a Deputy Stage Manager;

  • demonstrate a developing aptitude to work in the arts/entertainment industries;

  • demonstrate ability in oral communication skills and the generation of production documentation.
