SYNOPSIS:
This is the fourth course in which students develop concepts, skills and techniques through their involvement in one or more studio areas. Lectures, demonstrations and workshops in Curatorial Studies, Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpture and Textiles will be conducted each week. Studio practice will be underpinned by the history and theory component of this program.
OBJECTIVES:
On successful completion of this course students will have demonstrated a sufficiently high level of technical, conceptual and theoretical maturity and self expression in their chosen discipline(s) to be able to confidently enter the final practical courses of the program.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- The sequential nature of studio work coupled with Workplace Health & Safety considerations make it essential that students attend classes in order to fulfil course objectives in a systematic, safe and professional manner. Students who miss more than two workshops may be putting themselves and others at risk and will be asked to provide appropriate medical or relevant certification.
- Students must pass all assessment requirements. At this stage of the program only a graded pass or an F will be granted.
- End of semester assessment will be by a panel of Visual Arts staff. All marks will be averaged during moderation and the result expressed as HD, A, B, C or F according to USQ guidelines.
- ASSESSMENT DETAILS: DESCRIPTION: Submission and display of a body of work with appropriate documentation in a designated space as requested by staff.
- STUDENT WORKLOAD REQUIREMENTS: Laboratory or Practical Classes including Lectures 78 hours; Private Study 83 hours; Other 4 hours.
