SYNOPSIS:

This course is a culmination of art practice and self criticism, underpinned by history and theory developed in the prerequisite Studio Project courses. Assessment will be in the form of a presentation accompanied by documentation, demonstrating the articulation and conceptual development of the student's art making.



OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this course students will have:

  • achieved high levels of creative practice by undertaking self- directed, project oriented studies in visual arts practice;

  • achieved appropriate and selective practical skills and levels of accomplishment, through the synthesis of theory and practice;

  • developed presentation and documentation skills which demonstrate the culmination of conceptual and articulation skills of their art practice.

    1. The presentation and documentation is the culmination of all previous Studio Practice courses and requires the presentation of a completed body of art work accompanied by documentation. Advice such as the number of works, content, space and assessment for the presentation will be discussed with the studio discipline heads. The documentation format must be specified in writing with lecturers. Requirements would include articulation of concepts, influences, art making and final works Assessment of this course will involve an external advisor who is a professional practising artist/visual arts academic/noted arts worker.

    NOTES:

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Studio drawings, journals, lectures and discussion tutorials are an essential requirement of this course.
    2. Students will be required to pass all assessment requirements.
    3. Student Workload Requirements: Exhibition and Evaluation (Other) 5 hours.
    4. Assessment Details: Description - Presentation and documentation of a body of work as directed by lecturer(s).
    5. In order to meet course objectives, attendance at classes and critiques is essential.
    6. Final assessment will be by a staff panel and an external advisor. Their written comments on each student will be accessible by that student after the results are published.
    7. The final grade as per the Faculty's grading system will be agreed upon by the panel of assessors at a moderation meeting. No IM result will be awarded as this is the final assessment.
    8. Students must be in attendance at the end of semester assessment to discuss their work.
