SYNOPSIS:

This course is a continuation of studies in technical/production areas of theatre for those students who wish to pursue a career in the live entertainment industry. It provides study, training and experience in the duties, procedures and responsibility of the Deputy Stage Manager/Stage Manager theatre practitioner. Digital and multimedia technologies, as part of contemporary stage management practice, are introduced in the film and television studio. Special attention will be paid to the development of a professional work method approach.



OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this course students will:

  • demonstrate a knowledge of areas examinable in either the Stage Management field eg Deputy Stage Manager or technical or administrative positions;

  • demonstrate skills in assigned areas of the Stage Management field eg Deputy Stage Manager or technical or administrative positions;

  • demonstrate a practical understanding and awareness of production and artistic staff interaction;

  • demonstrate an aptitude to work in a professional theatre environment in the Stage Management field or technician or administrator positions.
